Kootingal & District Preschool provides two large, calm, and inviting indoor learning areas and our unique outdoor grounds are filled with natural gardens and play spaces that inspire curiosity and exploration. We know the importance of play in a child’s development and offer play-based learning opportunities throughout our daily routine.
Our service has strong connections with our community and offers a variety of educational and cultural programs including music, art, science and literacy as well as Aboriginal education. We value higher educator to child ratios and believe in the importance of developing quality relationships with our children and their families.
In 1985 the preschool was opened in a temporary premises at the Uniting Church Hall and the first day of preschool at the Kootingal War Memorial Hall was in February 1986. The preschool opened to forty children who attended across 2 days. In 1988, the preschool was operating 4 days a week and 85 children attended across multiple sessions.
The process began in 2010 to build our current building, it was a long journey and our first day in the building was in May of 2013. Since then, the preschool has grown from strength to strength with so many wonderful staff and families calling it home. We now operate 5 days a week with 13 amazing staff supporting over 80 children each week. We look forward to what the future will be for us within the amazingly supportive community of Kootingal.
At Kootingal and District Preschool we believe our team of Early Childhood Educators are one of our most valuable assets and we could not achieve our goals or honour our philosophies without their knowledge, support and hard work.
Our team understand their responsibility that comes with the role of an educator and are committed to ensuring that every child not only enjoys their time with us, but has been exposed to every available developmental and learning opportunity.
